Materials & Tools

Check out these materials & tools to help you with your cozy crafts.

1. 6.5 x 5 in. folded cards.

This card size is good if you want to put money inside your cards without folding the bills in half.

2. Extra cardstock paper.

This will be used to cover the backside of the embroidery.

If you don't want to use pre-folded cards, you can also just use cardstock to make your own card size.

Make sure your cardstock color matches the color of your folded cardstock.

3. Embroidery/thread scissors.

These will cut your thread more accurately than using normal scissors.

4. Foam board.

I like to use two layers of foam board, but one should be okay too.

5. Embroidery or crewel needle.

I prefer to use embroidery and crewel needles because it's less likely that you will prick your finger and ruin your paper project.

6. Double-sided tape.

This will be used on the edges of the card once you have finished the embroidery. I like to use permanent 1/2" or narrow double-sided tape.

I find that using glue tape doesn't work as well. Double-sided Scotch tape stuck the strongest.

7. Embroidery floss.

I like to use DMC in my designs, but feel free to use any kind and any colors you like for the project.

8. Small awl OR any needle thicker than than the embroidery needle.

I prefer starting with smaller holes because you can always make a hole bigger, but you can't make them smaller when you use paper.
It will also depend how many strands of thread you will you use for your stitch.

9. Transparent tape.

Just normal Scotch tape will work. This will be used to hold down your floss on the back.
